Madurai Shanmukhavadivu Subbulakshmi born on 16 September 1916 – 11 December 2004, also known as M.S., was a renowned Carnatic vocalist.
She was the first music performer ever to be granted the Bharat Ratna, India's most astounding non military personnel honor. She is the primary Indian musician to get the Ramon Magsaysay honor, regularly considered Asia's Nobel Prize, in 1974 with the reference perusing "Demanding perfectionists recognize Srimati M. S. Subbulakshmi for the main type of established and semi-established tunes in the Karnataka custom of South India."
